Posted 11-28-07

Tremonton Utah—A 15-passenger van carrying 10 Utah State University Agriculture students and their instructor rolled several times on southbound I-80 near Tremonton around 4:00 p.m. today. Seven of the passengers were reported dead on scene, and the remaining four were taken to neighboring hospitals.

According to Luetenant Jason Jensen, who was the first officer on scene, speed was definitely a factor in this accident.

Kyle Holden was traveling in a separate car with the group and said that he had passed the van right before the accident occurred. Holden told us that he saw smoke coming from one of the tires, like a tire had blown out, which is an expected cause of the crash.

Noel Cocket, who is the dean of the agriculture department at Utah State had this to say, "This is one of the best classes we have ever had, some of them are married, some have children, this is going to be hard to get through.
